Job description
Role Purpose
To operate and monitor polishing/coating machines in the flexible packaging production process while ensuring quality standards, production efficiency, machine maintenance, and safety compliance. The role requires strong technical knowledge of flexible packaging materials, surface finishing, coating quality, and machine handling.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
- Operate polishing/coating machines as per production plan and specifications.
- Set machine parameters including speed, temperature, pressure, coating thickness, and tension control.
- Ensure smooth running of machines with minimum downtime.
- Perform machine setup, adjustment, and changeover activities.
Production Monitoring
- Monitor coating/polishing quality during production.
- Ensure proper surface finish, gloss level, adhesion, and uniform coating application.
- Maintain production targets while minimizing wastage and rejection.
- Coordinate with quality and production teams for process improvements.
Quality Control
- Check finished material for defects such as scratches, uneven coating, bubbles, marks, and coating variation.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
- Maintain proper production and quality records.
Material Handling
- Handle flexible packaging materials such as BOPP, PET, PE, CPP, Foil, and Laminates.
- Ensure correct usage of chemicals, coatings, solvents, and consumables.
- Monitor material consumption and reduce wastage.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine machine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
- Identify and resolve minor mechanical or operational issues.
- Coordinate with maintenance team for major breakdowns and repairs.
- Ensure proper housekeeping around the machine area.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Ensure safe handling of chemicals and solvents.
- Maintain clean and organized work environment as per 5S standards.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of flexible packaging production processes.
- Experience in polishing/coating machine operation.
- Knowledge of surface finishing and coating quality standards.
- Understanding of tension control and web handling systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot machine and process-related issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts and under production targets.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / ITI / Technical Certification preferred.
- Additional training in flexible packaging machinery will be an advantage.
