Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the operator in setting up and operating slitting machines for flexible packaging materials.
- Support in loading and unloading jumbo rolls and finished rolls using appropriate handling methods.
- Assist with machine setup, including cores, knives/blades, shafts, and other required components.
- Ensure the correct material, roll width, and job specifications are followed as per the production order.
- Assist in maintaining proper roll tension, alignment, winding, and edge quality during production.
- Monitor the slitting process and immediately report any abnormality, defect, or machine issue to the operator/supervisor.
- Check finished rolls for basic quality parameters such as width, winding, roll condition, and visual defects.
- Assist with roll identification, labeling, weighing, and proper placement of finished rolls.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping around the machine and work area.
- Handle waste/scrap generated during the slitting process and segregate it as instructed.
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
- Assist with routine cleaning and basic machine maintenance activities.
- Ensure tools, knives, cores, and other consumables are properly stored after use.
- Complete production and quality records as required.
- Support the operator during changeovers and job completion.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Operator, Supervisor, or Department Head.
