Job description
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Assist in planning and supervising daily slitting operations as per the production schedule.
- Ensure timely completion of slitting jobs while meeting quality and productivity targets.
- Monitor machine performance, downtime, and production output.
- Coordinate machine setup, job changeovers, and material availability.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
Quality Control
- Verify slit roll dimensions, winding quality, edge quality, and appearance as per specifications.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and quality standards.
- Investigate and report quality issues, defects, and non-conformities.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspections and corrective actions.
Team Management
- Supervise operators and assistant operators during shifts.
- Allocate tasks and monitor employee performance.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to production staff.
- Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to company policies.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company regulations.
- Promote safe working practices within the department.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards following 5S principles.
- Report unsafe conditions and incidents promptly.
Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department for machine breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Assist in troubleshooting machine and process-related issues.
- Support waste reduction, efficiency improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and control material wastage and rework.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production records, shift reports, downtime reports, and quality records.
- Monitor production KPIs and prepare reports as required.
- Ensure accurate recording of production data in ERP or reporting systems.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent technical qualification with relevant industry experience may be considered.
Experience
- 10–12 years of experience in the flexible packaging industry.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in slitting operations or a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of slitting machines, flexible packaging materials, and quality requirements.
